grapevine express

well, i decided that kendall and i needed a mommy-daughter day because i was tired of sitting at home and playing the 'i said yes, she said no i don't want to game'. so, i made reservations for us to take an all day train ride out of grapevine down to the fort worth stock yards. we had a ball! it was so fun, kendall loved the train ride and the free lolipops!
here are some pictures of the train and her lolipop!

the fort worth stockyards are really neat, i had never been. it is what you would picture texas to be--cowboys, horses, rodeos, longhorns, live music, bbq.

when we first got to the stockyards, there was a band playing music and kendall decided to dance--on the side walk with everyone around, she did not care--dance like nobody's watching is the saying, right? well, she did!!

then, kendall decided that in order to be a 'real' cowgirl, she needed a cowgirl hat and she said "mommy, real cowgirls wear pink hats--so, i think i need one!" so, we went on a search for a pink hat that would fit a three year old and not break the bank--and we found one! it was really cute--i must say!

then, we went to watch a rodeo. i could not believe how much she enjoyed watching the bull riding. she kept saying ' mommy those horses sure are going crazy!' and the entire time the cowboy was riding she would say 'hang on!' as loud as she could.

so, i decided after our day together that i needed to do more adventures like this--just me and kendall. she says almost everyday 'I wish I was a grown up' and the crazy thing is, i am going to blink and she is going to get her wish.........

me vs. a 3 year old.....all day long!

so, each and everyday there is a new battle that kendall puts up for me. it usually changes from day to day.....everyone keeps telling me this is just her trying to become more independent, but it is hard---so, i try my best to pick my battles wisely. having said that, i asked kendall to get ready for dance--oh, she did: leotard on-check, tights on-check, shoes on-check, 8 bracelets on-check, sunglasses on-check, headband on-check, 3 necklaces on-check................and when i told her she had to remove the 8 bracelets, sunglasses, headband, 3 necklaces, well--that is where the first battle of the day came in............take a look.....

when kendall goes to bed each night she picks out her pajamas. her favorite pair of pajamas that she has are some dora pants and shirt that i bought for her when she was 14 months old (she is now 3 and a half)...well, each night before bed those are the pjs that she wants on....i try and hide them and she wants to find them and put them on.............so, here is kendall in her 'old faithful' pjs that are size 18 months. if you tell her they don't fit good, she pulls the shirt down as far as she can and lifts the pants up so high to prove to me that they do........this was the last battle of the day.............and of course, she wins this one

make a joyful noise....

brooke thinks kendall is the funniest, coolest person around. all kendall has to do is run around or look at brooke and she starts laughing so hard! here is an example......kendall is just cleaning her blocks up and brooke finds it hysterical....take a look...

sometimes when the house is a mess-i look like a mess-i feel like a mess; this is all it takes to make the day seem like it was a success!

let's go frogs....

we went to the tcu game again this past saturday night. it was really fun. kendall had a blast. there were a lot of other little girls her age there and they were able to all pretend to be cheerleaders.
usually kendall just stands there and looks at the cheerleaders and smiles, well last night the frogs must have really gotten into her because we look over and she is cheering herself--turned around (facing the crowd), it was pretty cute! i don't know where she got all that coordination from? hah!

no rest for the weary.....

i am convinced whoever came up with this saying must have had a toddler. here is a clip of michael coming home after work and wanting to watch a football game and relax. kendall had something else in mind........

my little fancy nancy......

so i have mentioned a couple of times on here that kendall loves the 'fancy nancy' books. i mean she loves them, they are her favorite thing to do at any time during the day. tonight when michael was putting her to bed, she said that she could read him the 'fancy nancy' book instead of him reading it to her---and she did, word for word! it was amazing! she knew every word and if you have ever read those books---they are full of hard words and phrases. what a mommy moment--so cute!!!

i tried to recreate it today because it was so cute, and of course not a good as last night, but you get the point.....
